Vasil & Emma

More than ten years ago an innocent lady met a charming young man. It all began with a brief introduction at the airport – a place for emotional goodbyes and long-waited comebacks, heartfelt welcomes, impulsive tears of joy, bouquets of flowers… a cultural criss-cross. 

 

This first meeting, the location, the context, the circumstances, it all felt like a stroke of serendipity. 

 

At the beginning they met almost extensively at the airport for a quick goodbye or brief welcome. Whilst Emma lived abroad in the UK, Vasil’s life forged in Bulgaria, where he was surrounded by friends, family and loved ones. Yet with each new ‘hello’, with every single comeback, the bond grew stronger. Vasil noticed the young lady blossom into a beautiful flower. Emma spoke to him about her adventures, her success, her friendships and the life she had there, far away. These talks often turned into entire discourses, business projects, intellectual debates, karaoke nights, passionate conversations… They shared everything with one another. Vasil represented the sort of spiritual support and warm hug that Emma could not find anywhere in the world – the soft calmness of his voice, his confident smile and gaze which assured her that it will all be fine. 

 

Phone calls, video chats, dozens of letters… 

 

They lived at the two opposite ends of Europe, but were inseparable. This rapport molded them into best friends. Her English style and Oxfordian critical thinking complemented perfectly his intellect and mastery of the arts.  

And just like that they became more than friends. 

 

Emma – with her innocence and ever-charming ingenuity; Vasil – with his calm confidence, business flair and impeccable style. 

 

Thus they became known as Mr Big and the Kid.
